The American Society of Legal Advocates (ASLA) is an exclusive organization made up of elite attorneys across the nation. This invite-only group is made up of lawyers who have shown exemplary skill in their practice and a commitment to community engagement and upholding the highest professional standards.
Columbus attorney David Bressman is proud to be among the select few attorneys chosen to be included by the ASLA in their membership. He joins only a few hundred other attorneys in the nation to have earned membership in ASLA’s elite group.
How David Bressman Became an ASLA Member
Membership in the ASLA is an invite-only process. A nomination for inclusion in the American Society of Legal Advocates begins with a peer nomination. Only current ASLA members may nominate an attorney for the selection process.
A select group of current ASLA members serve as the evaluation committee and will review each candidate based upon a multi-level review.
David’s practice was evaluated based upon:
- his firm’s website;
- client assessments;
- publically-available filings (verdicts, settlements);
- educational accomplishment;
- bar association and professional organization involvement or leadership;
- community involvement; and
- legal achievement.
Once the evaluation committee processed these details for each candidate, a nomination list was produced with the few potential members that have shown exemplary performance in their area of practice. After the final review, David was among the handful of attorneys extended an invitation to become an ASLA member.

David Bressman: One of ASLA’s Top 100 Attorneys of 2014
Beyond the honor of general membership, the ASLA also has two distinguished categories where a lawyer may earn additional recognition. Every year the ASLA designates 40 attorneys under 40 years of age as their “Top 40 Under 40” attorneys. This year, David has earned the honor of becoming a member of ASLA’s other distinguished category, the Top 100 Attorneys.
He is one of only 13 attorneys in Ohio to earn this designation and one of three in the practice area of litigation. To earn the Top 100 designation an attorney must be evaluated by the selection committee and show exemplary skill, ethics, involvement, and dedication through their practice, community involvement, education, and conduct.
